Are You Listening, Roger Goodell?

Reflecting on the changes to today’s Pro Bowl–taking place the weekend between the Conference Championship and the Super Bowl in the Super Bowl city, Miami, and not in Hawaii–I recalled my VideoDeep post regarding such from last year.

Were you listening, Roger Goodell?

No, I’m not so egotistical to think the NFL’s head honcho read and/or watched video on this site and made drastic changes to the league’s all-star game. I am neither the first nor the only to suggest these adjustments.

It’s just positive that the NFL finally listened. Are you paying attention, O Lords of the BCS? Listen to the fans and media!

The video:

NOVEMBER GOLDEN TAMPON AWARD

The nominees:

Josh McDaniels or Roger Goodell, after McDaniels apologized for–or was forced to apologize for–an “MF” bomb dropped on the Broncos sideline during a nationally televised game. However, the young coach’s apology sounded so sincere and well spoken, we might for a moment believe it came from his heart and not an edict from Herr Roger.

Any, pundit, player, coach, or commentator who whines about a team “running up the score.” Ironically, our November winner has been accused of doing exactly that against most NFL teams…

Bill Bellichick wins in a landslide. We take the position that if you can’t stop a team from scoring, you ought to blame your defense for sucking. We also believe you play until the game is over and last Monday Night Billy Boy and his Patriots crapped out like a weighted pair of dice. Five minutes to play and you take Brady out…? Maybe Robert Kraft oughtta change the pats logo to a white flag…

MORE NFL

What will Roger Goodell do when he realizes the leagues new “concussion policy” will see more and more skill players sitting the bench as those little “dings” and “stingers” we see during a typical game are diagnosed as concussion symptoms…

I-RISH THEY’D SHUT UP ABOUT THE IRISH

Michael Ventre writes in a column at http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/34211200/ns/sports-college_football/ an explanation of what Notre Dame should do now that Charlie Weiss has been fired as Notre Dame’s football coach.

Ventre catalogues sensible strategies for the storied program going forward: lowered expectations, lower academic standards, you know, honesty…

Ventre’s column veers into an absurdist dark side when he writes:

It’s true that college football is much richer when Notre Dame is at or near the top. The Charlie Weis watch, and the quest for his replacement, has garnered far more attention and created more drama nationally than anything being done on the field by any of the current contenders.

HUH?

A literal example of why I always say… NUCK FOTRE DAME!

The Irish haven’t been at or near the top for over two decades. Their status as college football’s golden domed standard has been seriously tarnished. Unemployed coaches are turning them down; even Urban Meyer won’t take his dream job. They can’t get the top academic players like they used to because schools like Nebraska, Penn State, OSU can offer everything Notre Dame can to the academically gifted athlete–including winning tradition, history, and exposure.

And excuse me, Mr. Ventre, any accomplishment Notre Dame lays claim too cannot outdo the excellence we have seen from Florida, Texas, and Ohio State in this decade alone. No ND coach can claim the sustained excellence of a Bowden or Paterno.

College football is just as “rich” today as it ever was when the Irish were at the top.

THURSDAY NIGHT PICKS

Toronto plays host to an AFC East contest between the Jets and Bills. Mark Sanchez has shown he isn’t the savior Big Appleians thought. Meanwhile, interim Buffalo coach, Perry Fewell has infused an injured young team with a new energy. Take the Bills and the home dog points and watch the Jets crash.

I’ll post my pick sheet before Sunday’s kickoff.

If you watch the media carefully, they have abdicated their responsibility as watch dogs of the powers that lord over our existence–the government, the corporation, the “league.”

Today’s media, save for the occasional Olberman, or “watch blog”, have assumed the position of cheerleader for whoever signs their pay check.

Rewind your TIVO of Super Bowl 43. How many shots of the crowd, during the game, do you see? My son brought this up after the Steelers pulled ahead 20-7. He theorized it was because the league, namely head honcho, Roger Goodell, was determined not to show the world what was, by several anecdotal accounts, a sea of Terrible Towels.

Wow, Roger, is more of a prick than I gave him credit for. (And I think he’s a huge prick with balls as big as pumpkins.)

First, he steps on one of the most loyal, free spending, international fan bases in the world by denying them some prime time exposure. Truth be told, I can understand, even accept, the need for the league to minimize even the appearance of partiality. But no shots of Steeler fans? Disgraceful.

Oh, and Roger, don’t think I didn’t notice the audio being muted when the Steelers scored or when the refs made a call against them.

Second–here’s where Roger’s pumpkin balls show themselves–along with his uncreative moronic, marketing toadies, Roger comes up with “The Trophy Towel”. What insensitive leeches. They blatantly spit in the face of the Steeler Nation by not showing their Terrible Towels, then have the brass pumpkins to rip off that most famous symbol of fandom in American sports.

The Terrible Towel was the brainchild of brilliant, lovable and raspy-voiced sportscaster, Myron Cope. The proceeds go to the Allegheny Valley School, which currently operates more than 120 facilities and programs across Pennsylvania helping individuals with developmental disabilities, where Myron’s son has spent his entire life.

The NFL’s and Roger Goodell’s unconscienable corporate manipulation has infringed upon a man’s selfless and beautiful legacy–not to mention his copyright.

Roger, don’t you know all those who have disrespected the towel have been cursed?

Ask T’J. and Ocho Cinco how “the changing of the guard” went after they stomped the Towel.

More recently ask Keith Bullock and Lendale White how they fared in this year’s AFC championship game. Oh, that’s right, Baltimore played in that game. GO RAVENS!

YOU ARE HEREBY OFFICIALLY CURSED ROGER GOODELL.

Oh, Rog, I almost forgot! Phoenix’s mayor and that fierce looking Cardinal mascot were wiping their armpits with a Terrible Towel.

Beware, the Steeler Nation retrieved those defaced items.

It may take a millennium, but every Steeler fan will someday, by special courier, be given the opportunity to embrace that holy terry cloth and sniff the remnants of the Red Bird’s body odor…

Yo, Roger, let me clue you in on something…

It smells like victory.
