http://www.deepintosports.com MLB NFL NBA NHL NCAA PGA Olympics Tennis Thu, 09 Sep 2010 19:33:51 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.0.1 http://www.deepintosports.com/2008/11/24/ranking-rationale/ http://www.deepintosports.com/2008/11/24/ranking-rationale/#comments Tue, 25 Nov 2008 03:58:39 +0000 Nate Barlow http://www.deepintosports.com/?p=287 Can anyone explain to me why Xavier is still ranked beneath Memphis in the latest Coach’s Basketball Poll after defeating the Tigers yesterday?  This wasn’t little Appalachian State pulling off the upset of the century on Michigan (I know that’s football, but the magnitude of the upset is what matters).  Xavier is a quality basketball team from a respectable conference, the Atlantic 10; Xavier and Memphis are at close to the same level as basketball programs.  That being the case, you would think that warrant the Musketeers being ranked higher than the Tigers.  The AP thought so.  But the Coaches?  Nope.  Memphis is still ranked three spots higher.  Ranking rationale?  Go figure.
