Picks & analysis for 2016 NFL Week 13 Thursday Night Game.
NFL Week 13 Thursday Night
OVER/UNDER OF THE WEEK 3 – 9
DALLAS COWBOYS (10-1) @ MINNESOTA VIKINGS (6-5) +3.5 44
We’ve been riding the Cowboys all year folks—and making bank in the process.
Yeah, we’re a little worried Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot, could hit the mythical “rookie wall” soon and the Cowboys Humpty Dumpty season might have a great fall. But, keep in mind, this isn’t 2004, when Big Ben coming off a MAC schedule featuring Ball St., Marshall, and Akron, set the NFL on fire. Roethlisberger hit the wall late in the season; you could see it in the playoffs.
The point is, when you’re young and don’t know any better, adrenaline can carry you a long way. Besides during Ben’s 13-0 regular season run, the Steelers rookie was sacked an average of 2.25 per game. Prescott averages a full sack less.
So-called pundits see Dallas’ visit to America’s version of Scandinavia as a dangerous game for the ‘Pokes. They visit the Giants next week and might get caught looking ahead. After all, the Norsemen are reeling after a 5-0 start, 1-5 since, and might rally together while head coach, Mike Zimmer, heals, at home, from emergency retinal surgery.
Not buying it.
Dallas struts into the Vikings new U.S. Bank Stadium well aware of the difference between hosting the Seahawks in Dallas and facing the unique 12th man in Seattle’s very unfriendly confines with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.
This is a supremely confident Cowboys squad. Not an Aaron Rodgers, “I can put the team on my back, relax…” confident; or a Tom Brady, “I’ve got a library of stolen signals…” confident.
The 2016 Cowboys swagger into any stadium boasting five road graders on their O-Line, believing they can wear any defense down, and knowing they have done so for eleven straight weeks.
Ask the Rat Birds. Two weeks ago, with a much better rush defense than the Vikes, Baltimore gave up 120+ yards to Elliot and Prescott on the ground.
The often forgotten cheese in this tiresome omelet of statistics: Minnesota fields the worst offense in the NFL—which could allow an injured, inconsistent Dallas defense to start believing in itself.
We’re sticking with our first instinct of taking the Cowboys in a double-digit romp Over the Number.
