UFC 200 Preview – MMAThursday, June 30, 2016 15:48
A look ahead at UFC 200.
Action Packed 12 Fight Lineup Set For UFC 200
With so many Ultimate Fighting nights already under its belt, it’s hard to imagine that there is much more that The UFC could do to spice up an evening that fans the world over consistently look forward to with eager anticipation. But somehow that is exactly what they’ve managed to do with the upcoming UFC 200, as it appears, on the surface that this is the most action packed card ever assembled.
Set for July 9th, UFC 200 has long since released promotional videos touting some of the more spectacular features that viewers will be enticed by. To be held at the recently opened T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the card itself will have a spectacular three title bouts out of the 12 fights in the lineup. Out of the 24 participants taking part in the evening, there are three current UFC champions, along with six former UFC champions. Beyond this, there are a few former champions of the K-1 and Pride organizations that have been assembled, along with three past champions from The Ultimate Fighter. All of this combines into a total of 93 Fight Night bonuses, which basically equals a UFC Fan’s dream come true.
Time will only tell if the promotion for the unofficially dubbed “biggest and baddest” UFC card ever comes to fruition; but all indications are that this will be a night to remember. In one of the more eagerly anticipated fights of the evening, currently light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is facing a rematch with the interim champion Jon Jones. Both fighters have only one loss each in MMA and UFC. Beyond that, fans are looking forward to the heavyweight bout with the former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. What is interesting about Lesnar is that he is a current WWE star and is making a comeback of sorts to the UFC, where he has a 4-3 record. He is matched against Mark Hunt in what has basically become the co-main event of the big ticket UFC 200.
The women’s match of the evening will pit bantamweight champion Miesha Tate, with a UFC record of 5-2 and an MMA record of 18-5, against challenger Amanda Nunes. This will be the first title defense for Tate, and first attempt for Nunes, so fans will be looking to see how both hold up to the respective challenges and pressure. Not to be overlooked is what may just be the best matchup in what has become the interim featherweight championship fight. The bout finds ex Lightweight Champion Frankie Egar and his 14-4-1 UFC record taking on Jose Aldo who held the Featherweight belt for over 5 years, prior to his sudden KO loss to Conor McGregor.
There simply does not appear to be a slow moment to be found throughout the UFC 200 card . Fans have likely already started collecting money from friends for an at home PPV party or they are making plans to hit one of their local sports bars. It will be an action packed evening to be sure, so get there early and prepare to settle in for the long haul. Only time will tell whether UFC 200 ends up being one for the history books, but with the lineup the UFC has set, the chances seem very, very likely.
