Pick and analysis for the NFL Week 12 Thanksgiving Day games.
NFL WEEK TWELVE THURSDAY – HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Philadelphia Eagles (4-6) @ Detroit Lions (3-7) 46 [O]
Gairzo is making pasta sauce, and prepping the turkey, so let’s keep this brief…
We’ll start by pointing to some reasons why each Turkey Day team should be thankful…
Chip Kelly has a ton to be thankful for:
- Short memories of fans, ownership, and his team…
Kelley let a lot of quality talent go amid a controversy and ugly accusations of racism. Right now his team stinks and more than one media outlet has questioned whether his players have quit on him.
- Perhaps, Kelly should be most thankful for the impending opening for the USC head-coaching gig.
In Motown, Jim Caldwell and his squad have to love the low expectations of the Lions’ faithful and the eternal support of Mrs. Ford and her family.
Every young quarterback in the league should be thankful your truly hasn’t cursed him with the label of “next great” or “best young” QB in the NFL. The last two we praised so effusively—Matthew Stafford and Josh Freeman—regressed almost from the moment I wrote those words.
If only I knew how to harness my power!
We wouldn’t bet this game with the Koch, (pronounced COCK), brothers’ money; we’ll go with the home team, because the Jungle Kings have won two straight and the Eagles were swashbuckled by Bucs’ rookie quarterback, Jameius Winston. Matt Stafford is no rookie and the Bald Birds stink on defense, seem to be going through the motions on offense, and are alarmingly undisciplined.
We’ll ride Detroit giving one point, Over the Number.
Lions 31 Eagles 21
LOCK OF THE WEEK
Carolina Panthers (9-0) @ Dallas Cowboys (3-7) 46.5 [U]
The Dallas Cowboys, their fans, far too much of the stinking, lazy media—and even Ron Rivera, this Turkey Day’s opposing coach, should bow down at the, no doubt, grotesquely oversized altar of Jerry Jones.
The Cowboys’ owner and chief windbag has seemingly convinced the aforementioned parties Dallas has a legit shot to win the NFC East—which, in 2015, is a lot like winning “Best Smile” in an Ugly Contest. It means your teeth might be a paler shade of yellow and home to less spinach.
The Cowboys aren’t just ugly—they fugly. How Fugly?
- They are the are the worst team in the NFC
- In very close games, the ’Boys have beaten Big Blue, Philly, and the Fish.
- None of which have played pretty football in 2015
The Panthers head coach had very little work to do this week. His 9-0 team opened as a dog against a lousy Dallas team and Rivera played the “disrespect” card faster than Caitlin Jenner played the “hero” card.
This one’s a Lock if there ever was one. I’m taking the Over.
Panthers 30 Cowboys 20
Chicago Bears (4-6) @ Green Bay Packers (7-3) – 9 47.5
Hey, you’ll never hear me cutting the bookies down; I’m batting below the any measure of the handicapper’s version of the Mendoza line…
But, c’mon 9 points? Division rivals this late in a season…The Bears and John Fox seem to be adjusting to each other the Packers had to beg Eddie Lacy to run hard and were upset by Detroit a couple weeks ago.
John Fox is giving thanks everyone is underestimating his team. Packer Nation is blessed Aaron Rodgers wears Green & Gold.
Rodgers will find a way to get the “W”—but won’t cover the spread, or beat the Total…
Packers 27 Bears 20
