NFL Week 10 Thursday Night FootballThursday, November 12, 2015 16:00
Pick and analysis for the NFL Week 10 Thursday Night game.
NFL WEEK TEN THURSDAY
Buffalo Bills (4-4) @ New York Jets (5-3) 41.5 [O]
Another Thursday Nighter we would normally toss into the Sucker Bet file.
However, we back down from no game, especially when our favorite coach is in the spotlight. Lets, see, how should we begin? With the obvious? Okay…
Rex Ryan is a fool.
Not in the “I have no intellect and I am clueless” sense of the word—not this time anyway—but in the “Woody Allen as “The Fool” in the Everything You Want to Know About Sex* sense of the word.
Like Allen’s fop, Ryan’s timing sucks and his payoffs are lame. This week, ol’ Rex named an obscure player, IK Enemkpali, a team captain—the same player who, during a training camp attack, broke Jet’s QB, Geno Smith’s jaw.
Then, when asked if it were a stick to the Jets’ eye, the Buffalo coach played The Fool—well here’s Rex’s Twitter response:
The responding tweets are spot on, aren’t they?
This is when the King would have his Royal Axemeister chop off the Twit’s head…
But the NFL’s reigning Fool survives another week—for now…
I’d have more respect for Rex’s shtick if he was consistent:
Reporter: Coach was this a deliberate attempt to poke the Jets and Geno in the eye?
Ryan: You betcha it was. I hate those guys. They bring Revis and Cromartie in after they can me? Now I gotta take shots about how Bowles is getting more outta the defense I built?
Now, that, I could live with, but Rex is never consistent—except when obsessing over another AFC East rival. When asked if he had circled this game on his calendar, Rex responded:
“I promise that I’ll give you an honest answer [about playing the Jets] after the game [Thursday],” Ryan said. “Because right now I haven’t thought about it. What I’m telling you is the truth. We’re just trying to prepare for a game on a short week.
“Would it had been different if it was a longer [week]? Maybe.”
“But at no point was I like, ‘Oh, I have this one circled.’ Everybody knows me, I circle the Patriots. That’s what I do.”
The Bills will travel to Gillette Stadium later this month for their first Monday Night Football appearance since 2009 — when they opened their season with a loss to the Patriots.
“Oh baby, that one’s gonna be tough,” Ryan said Monday. “The quarterback [Tom Brady] never gets worse. What’s wrong with him? That quarterback never gets worse. Like what is wrong with him. You know what I mean? When you get older, you’re supposed to get worse. This dude’s getting better.
“Like, it’s sick. It’s not right. I’m waiting for the wheels to fall off.”
Keep in mind, these lengthy comments about the Pats and Brady are 48 hours before facing a formidable division opponent on national television.
Here was Todd Bowles response to being asked if he wanted to jump in front of the clown car Ryan will drive in from Buffalo:
“We’re trying to win two games in four days. It’s not facing him, it’s facing the Bills,” Bowles said Sunday after a 28-23 win over the Jaguars. “They’re a division rival and we’re trying to win the game.”
Cliché…boring…dull…Just like 30 other NFL coaches approach every game.
No surprise here, Todd Bowles is the real deal and his players are starting to believe his message.
We look for the Jets to out muscle the under achieving Bills defense, a tad Over the Number.
