NFL Week 12 Thanksgiving Day Picks and Analysis – FootballThursday, November 24, 2011 9:09
Thanksgiving Day Game picks for Week 12 of the 2011 NFL football season.
NFL 2011 Week 12 Thanksgiving Day Picks & Analysis
Lock of the Week (6 – 5, .545)
The Packers come off one of the few victories that didn’t find them beating the line. They have been one of the most dependable teams against the gangsters over the years and are playing the best offensive football in the league. Detroit just doesn’t have the firepower to stay with Aaron Rodgers–who might set a new standard before the year is over.
Packers 31, Lions 17
Game of the Week (4 – 7, .363)
We’ve blown this Special the last three weeks and we need to stop the bleeding.
A pedestrian slate of match-ups this NFL weekend forces us to pick what should be a good game when the ’49ers travel cross-country to Baltimore to make history when the Harbaughs become the first brothers to face one another as head coaches.
Imagine how that storyline will be hyped if there is a Super Bowl rematch.
Anyway you look at this Thursday Nighter, it figures to be close. The Gold Miners have been more consistent, while the Ratbirds have beaten one team we could call a Super Bowl contender–the Steelers–twice.
They have also gone down to the Seahawks, Titans and Jags.
Neither team is dominant offensively. Alex Smith does seem to be coming into his own; as for Joe Flacco, every time you think he has achieved that signature victory, he follows it up with a bad a game marked by one or more bonehead plays.
I’ve picked against the Niners the last three times they have come to the east coast and each time they made me pay for it.
You’d think I would learn my lesson.
A short week, jet lag, and one of the best defenses in the league will conspire to send San Francisco back to the Bay grateful they have a three-game lead in the NFC West.
Take the Rat Birds and give the field goal.
The after-game handshake should be fun.
Ravens 26, 49ers 20AND FINALLY…
The late afternoon game pits the Cowboys against the Fish in the House that Jerry built.
This would be my second choice for Lock of the Week, but Miami is a 4 – 1 team on Thanksgiving Day and the Dolphins are playing as if they want to save Tony Sparano’s job.
I admire their loyalty and I’ll be rooting for them to make Jerrahs plastic face fall off–I just don’t think the Cry Boys are going to give this baby away.
Cowboys 27, Dolphins 7
