Wrigley Field Pilgrimage
Monday, May 4, 2009 10:07This post has nothing to do with commentary. Nothing to do with analysis. Nothing to do with anything except pure love of sport.
Specifically, love of baseball and love of that sport’s magnificent history.
On April 21, I finally had the opportunity of seeing a game at Wrigley Field. I tried, at the time, to post Live! via my iPhone, but whether that failed because of issue with the WordPress app, the iPhone or just a poor signal at the ballpark, the article refused to go live while I was at the game. With so many other articles by our diligent staff written during my time away, I wanted to make sure they received their timely due upon my return.
But now, with DeepIntoSports.com otherwise caught up, I can post the pictures I took on my pilgrimage to Wrigley. If you haven’t been, you should. There is nothing quite like the atmosphere of our historic sports venues. No matter how “retro” in style the new designs are, that sense of history will always lack. Not surprisingly, Wrigley Field reminded me of Fenway Park. I don’t care how much you hate the Cubs or Red Sox, attending a game at these fields of dreams is special. I can only imagine that Lambeau Field must be the same way. I will have to pencil that in as a spot on my ongoing sports pilgrimages.
Why did the Yankees and Tigers have to replace their parks?
