In my ongoing quest to find worthy and inspirational stories in the sporting world amongst all the contract squabbles, drug scandals and criminal corruption, here’s an article I found on Yahoo! Sports in the aftermath of Team USA’s thrilling ninth-inning come from behind victory last night in the World Baseball Classic.  Which, if you missed, is too bad for you on the purely sports front; I’ve already extolled the virtues of the WBC.

This story brought a tear to my eye as it extends to a world far more important than my love of athletics: the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and the veterans of said.

(Editor’s Note: These stories will be filed under the ongoing column Sports Bright.)

You're right. In a world of cheaters and system abusers, it's nice to sometimes get a feel good story like this. It brought a man tear to my eye.
